Ugh this fineass man…
I’ll never get over how gorgeous and wonderfully fitting Kino Hinoki’s art is.
As a follow up to this post, I guess people would be upset that Sentai chose ‘Rat’ over ‘Nezumi’, but I honestly don’t really mind it, since it seemed almost inevitable that they would translate it for a dub. There’s also the possibility that they may have asked the Japanese producers or someone similar which names to go with, as I know that David Williams (who works at Sentai and occasionally does dub directing) in particular has mentioned asking the Japanese staff for confirmation on other series. A lot of companies have been doing it recently, which is actually quite nice!
I also forgot to mention that they’re using Correctional Institute over Correctional Facility, but that’s a minor thing that I don’t think anyone would nitpick too terribly at.
I’m also really interested in how they’re going to approach the lip flap issue, which really could be quite the problem, seeing as ‘Nezumi’ has three flaps while ‘Rat’ only has one. And considering that Shion is prone to saying Nezumi’s name alone, it’s going to be difficult to do.
As for the cast…. Sentai’s pool of voice actors is a bit smaller than some of the other companies, but from the names they’ve used in the past, I’ve been mentally putting together a few that I think would work well. Shion is definitely going to be more difficult to cast than Nezumi, seeing as that there aren’t as many (medium) higher-pitched guys available. I’m also assuming that we’ll get different voices for Shion and Nezumi at 12 years old, but you never know.
Now I’m incredibly curious about how they’re going to translate Inukashi’s name. Dog lender? But that still doesn’t quite fit four flaps. And I’m also really happy that they’re using Shion over Sion. But more than anything, I’m just excited to finally have the chance to own a copy!
No.6 up for preorder, to be released on August 27th!
The preorders are now up on RightStuf: both the complete DVD collection and the complete Blu-Ray collection are listed! We already know that it’s going to be both subtitled and dubbed and have the Japanese commentary for every episode, which is incredibly exciting since the commentaries are both interesting and really cute! How could they not be, considering that they’re done by Kaji Yuuki and Hosoya Yoshimasa this cast?
The “official” Sentai Filmworks summaries included on other websites key us in on the localization of the names: Shion and Rat, which I’m relatively happy with, considering that they wouldn’t use ‘Nezumi’ in the dub. Now all we need is a cast list!
Ohsaka Ryota (alt. Oosaka Ryouta), another new seiyuu. He’s currently starring as Sanada Yuki in Tsuritama, his only role as of yet. He’s definitely someone to keep an eye on!
Yamamoto Kazutomi, from the page on new seiyuu. He’s been cast in roles such as Mochizuki Yuuya in Another, Asuno Kio in Gundam AGE, and Nakameguro Yoshiki in Seitokai no Ichizon.
Of course, I just ordered the May edition of Seiyuu Grand Prix because a certain someone is on the cover and has ten whole pages of content…. but I’ll just say that I bought it in order to scan it because I have a blog to uphold! That’s a good excuse! Speaking of which, I should probably post today’s scan fairly soon. I should also begin putting some of the other seiyuu scans up on this blog!
However, something in the description really caught my eye! There’s apparently a segment with Sugita Tomokazu and Crispin Freeman talking about Kyon in Japan and America? To my knowledge, this is the first time an American voice actor has appeared in a seiyuu magazine, so I’m quite excited about that! I can only imagine the dynamic between the two of them….
I’ll just sit here and waver back and forth between buying Kami☆Voice, the G.Addict LIVE Sign of Addiction ‘11 DVD, and both the dansei and josei hen of Shin Hyakka Seiran II for the rest of all time. I want them all, but…. the prices and shipping combined would kill my savings. /buries head in hands
I don’t know how to rip DVDs, so unfortunately I wouldn’t even be able to do that much for you all if I bought them…. though I’d really like to do so. For now I’ll just wait for more seiyuu magazines with Yuutan in them and anxiously refresh RightStuf daily while waiting for the No.6 preorder to go up (which it should within the week or so, if this month also follows Sentai’s usual monthly release schedules). I’m still trying to formulate this cast in my head while awaiting the official announcement. Sentai has a smaller pool of male voice actors than FUNi does, but I really think they can pull it off if they use a good director and cast it correctly (I’m still quietly hoping for Clint Bickham as Shion, to be honest….).
If nothing else, I have my preorder placed for the LE of volume 4 of the No.6 manga! A drama CD written by Asano Atsuko and voiced by Kaji and Hosoyan is all I need in life….

「K」 main cast!
The 「K」 website is having a golden week special in which they introduce new characters, and even better, there are voice clips for each character currently listed! We only have the main five thus far, but the cast is as follows:
Isana Yashiro: Namikawa Daisuke
Munakata Reiji: Sugita Tomokazu
Suoh Mikoto: Tsuda Kenjirou
Yatogami Kuroh: Ono Daisuke
I double checked and everything I could find seems to back it up, with some sources having posted the cast at an earlier date, leading me to believe that it was leaked or announced previously. In any case, Neko has a voice clip as well, though I can’t quite make out her seiyuu. I can’t be the only one excited for this all star cast!

Poster from Seiyuu Animedia (April 2012).
I’ve been scanning my seiyuu magazines for many hours…. so expect an eventual influx of posts both here and at kajikyun! I’ll do my best to queue them and space them out, but look forward to them!
